Lessons & Assignments Thursday, October 22nd

Language Arts - Study spelling and vocab - We completed our DOL in class today.  Students took their skills test today that included sequencing, vocabulary, and common/proper nouns.  We read about city governments, and the different jobs you can have in the city.  We had lots of questions about what it takes to be a mayor, and tomorrow we will record some of those questions for a special surprise on Monday!

Math - None - We finished lesson 3.6 today on the Commutative Property of Multiplication.  We used Unifex cubes, bingo chips, base 10 blocks, and googly eyes to make arrays today during our lesson.  Since we learned about the Commutative Property of Addition earlier this year, the class caught on pretty quickly to today's lesson.

Science - None - We read about migration and camouflage today as animal adaptations.  We connected this to the Scholastic News article the students read yesterday about whale migration.  We also watched a Wild Kratts video from the PBS Kids website on butterfly migration.

Social Studies - None - We previewed chapter 4 today on celebrations.  We watched a Discovery Education video on U.S. celebrations, and recorded 3 different celebrations as we were watching the movie.
