Last Day of School

We had an amazing last day of school today with our field day!  Although the class spent most of their day with other teachers, I did get to see them before the day was over.  Thank you for sharing your kids with me this year.  I'm always anxious to have some extra time with my family when the school year wraps up, but sad to say good-bye to the kids I've watched grow and learn.
I hope you have a wonderful summer!

Keegan's mom visited our classroom today to tell us about her job as a nurse.  The kids loved hearing about what she does at work, and really enjoyed sharing their own medical stories with her!  :)

Homework Celebration

In preparation for the upcoming PARCC test, Miss Vegter and I have been sending home review sheets as homework.  We offered an incentive to students that completed all of the worksheets on time, and scored at least 80% on every single one.  The students that met these requirements got to have lunch with us today, and were provided a yummy treat!  Congratulations, and thanks for all of your hard work!

PARCC Week

We are kicking off PARCC week this week.  Although the testing doesn't officially start until tomorrow, we are getting pumped today!  Mrs. Wisdom's class is cheering us on, and left us a really cool Star Wars poster out in the hallway.  They also wrote us encouraging notes, and left treats on our desks this morning.  I also put out the first of the notes from parents this afternoon, along with a special treat from me.  Thanks for your support this week and always!

Electricity Unit

We kicked off our unit on electricity with a visit from Sheldon Finley from Finley Electric today.  He showed the students how to build series and parallel circuits to light a bulb.  We added switches to the circuits to make them more complicated.  The students even had a chance to build circuits to start a fan, and ring a bell.  We had a great time, and I think I have a few future electricians in 3B!

Classroom Visitor

Kallie's dad visited our classroom today to tell us all about his job at Palmer College, and his work with the Erie Fire Department.  We got to see some of the cool tools and equipment that he uses on the job, and he brought "stress spines" for us to squeeze!

Classroom Visitor

Since our Valentine party and Jump Rope for Heart were during Kiera's Star of the Week time, we didn't have time for her dad to visit our classroom that week.  Luckily, he was able to visit today to tell us all about his job as a correctional officer.  The kids were so excited to ask questions about a prison, and what happens there.  We even learned that some products we might use are made there, like license plates!
